Senior Scientist, Drug Substance Manufacturing

Thryv Therapeutics Inc. is a privately owned company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  Thryv Therapeutics is pioneering a precision medicine approach to treat various diseases, including genetic and drug-induced Long QT Syndromes, atrial fibrillation and heart failure, with potent and selective inhibitors of Serum Glucocorticoid inducible Kinase.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Senior Scientist, Drug Substance Manufacturing will be responsible for the manufacturing of drug substances at external providers. They will oversee the technical aspects of drug substance route scouting, process development and manufacturing activities including process transfer, scale-up, registration batch manufacture, validation, launch, on-going manufacturing support and process improvements. This role will report directly to the Senior Director, Product and Process Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the synthesis, purification, and characterization of drug substances, ensuring high quality and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Drive process development activities to enhance scalability, robustness, and cost-effectiveness of drug substance manufacturing processes.

  • Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and contribute to regulatory submissions.

  • Effectively manage timelines, resources, and budgets to achieve project milestones.

  • Serve as a technical expert and keep current in the field of organic and process chemistry.

  • Be able to work independently to drive results and advance projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • PhD/master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry working in development or commercial manufacturing operations.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Thorough understanding of cGMPs.

  • In-depth understanding of organic synthesis, purification techniques, and analytical methods.

  • Experience in process development, scale-up, and technology transfer to manufacturing.

NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Exudes the highest level of integrity and an acute sense of ethics.

  • Operates with a sense of urgency and perseverance to achieve results.

  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing assignments.

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
